There's a Polar Bear in My Bathtub

I collaborated directly with author Cody Peterson to bring There's a Polar Bear in My Bathtub—a children's book inspired by his own Great Pyrenees dog—to life. My foundational role encompassed Art Direction, illustration, and comprehensive publication design, with the objective of creating a warm, engaging, and commercially viable book across both print and digital formats.

I defined the visual style of the book, establishing a friendly, simple, and brightly colored aesthetic appropriate for early readers. This included designing the main character (the boy) and the lovable Great Pyrenees "polar bear" (Layla), ensuring the illustrations visually supported the narrative's themes of imagination, warmth, and discovery.

I illustrated every page of the book, translating the author's words into sequential visual scenes. This involved extensive storyboarding and composition to manage visual pacing and emotional flow, ensuring the key narrative moment—the realization that the "polar bear" is actually the family dog—was impactful and charming.

I managed all aspects of the book's final production for self-publication on Amazon. This included formatting the interior layout for both paperback (print) and eBook distribution, designing the ISBN-ready cover image, and ensuring all files met the necessary technical specifications for successful print-on-demand and digital delivery.
